What is the workshop about?
We have found that whilst online communities often provide important opportunities for social connection and participation around shared interests, young people also described challenges relating to safety, platform design, sensory overload, and uncertainty about social expectations.
The aim of the workshop is to bring people together to co-create guidelines for helping organisations evaluate and support autistic participation in online communities and services.
When and where is the workshop taking place?
When: Friday 22nd January 2027, 11-3pm. Lunch will be provided.
Where: Mile End Campus, Queen Mary University of London
What will the workshop involve?
The workshop will feature talks from:
- Researchers on Autism in Affinity Spaces project
- Representatives from our charitable partners: National Autistic Society, Ambitious about Autism, and Autistic Girls Network
- Young ambassadors from the National Autistic Society
There will also be a zine-making workshop in the afternoon.
